Die Hervormde Kerk Suid-gemeente het op Saterdag, 21 November, weer hul jaarlikse Pienkbal Gholfdag aangebied. Dit is die 27ste jaar wat die gesogte Pienkbal Gholfdag aangebied is. Die spelers het die dag vreeslik geniet, en ten spyte van die koue en die misreën, het die spelers die balle steeds ore aangesit. Daar was ‘n aantal van 130 spelers wat deelgeneem het aan die dag. Pryse vir naaste aan die pen is P. Steyn (putjie 6), A. Oosthuizen (putjie14). Wenners van die IPS Kompetisie was C. Jacobs (derde), L. Du Preez (tweede) en D. Botha (eerste). Die top drie pienkbalspanne na afloop van die dag se spel was A. Oosthuizen en haar span (derde), C. Jacobs en sy span het met die tweede plek weggestap, terwyl Niel Matheson, Hermie Kleyn, PJ Labuschagne en Org Janse van Rensburg as wenners van die baan gestap het. Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club hosted their annual golf day at Ermelo Country Club on Thursday, 14t October. A total of 15 teams braved the blazing sun during a Four Ball Alliance, with a Scramble Drive competition. Sweat, fun, camaraderie and a few cold beverages to cool off saw an alliance score of 123, giving Brakecore 2 the win for the day. Prince of Tides placed second on the day, with a score of 117, with the Moth Club narrowly missing the second podium, placing third with a total score of 116. The Ermelo Phoenix Rotary Club President, Lawrence Wood, would like to thank all the players who partook in the event, as well as all of the sponsors that made the day possible, and a grand success at that. “We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the ongoing support and trust in us as a club.” The funds raised on the day will be utilized towards the club’s ongoing support of Damesfontien Child & Youth Centre. The club will also put the funds to work in hosting a Christmas bash for those less privileged during this festive season. Amersfoort VLU Tambuki Streek het op Vrouedag, 9 Augustus 2022 hul vergadering gehou by die AGS kerksaal. Carina Bam, ‘n somatoloog van Platteland Aesthetics in Ermelo het vir die dames ‘n demonstrasie aangebied, en hul meer vertel van “needling”, sowel as vele ander vel prosedures. Martie Struwig was die gelukkige wenner van ‘n gratis velbehandeling sessie, en elke dame het op die dag ‘n geskenkpakkie ontvang. Wessel Road ready for action 1/4 Share GK CRONJE 21 September 2021 The resulting court order entailed that repairs to Wessel Road, by Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM), had to be completed within 180 days within the date of the court order. The rehabilitation of Wessel Road has reached its finishing stages, and was officially opened to road users on Thursday, 16 September 2021. Businesses and motorists alike have expressed a sigh of relief, after years of struggling with the ghastly road conditions. The rehabilitation of the road came after Burlec Electrical had it in chunks with the conditions of the road, which had led to many businesses in this area experiencing a loss of clients due to issues of accessibility. A resulting court order entailed that repairs to Wessel Road, by Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM), had to be completed within 180 days within the date of the court order. Burlec Electrical had been the sole funder of all the legal costs, inclusive of the costs of the Traffic Engineer that was appointed to assess Wessel Road. In a twist of fate, the court order also held Msukaligwa Municipality accountable for Burlec’s taxed costs. Read more in next week’s edition of the Tribune ePaper about the the future of Wessel Road. Pricilla Esterhuyze dien as hoof afrigter, en werk weekliks oefeninge uit vir die aspirant hokkiesterre. Vandeesweek is daar gefokus op trekke navore en na agter, basiese aangee-werk, sowel as aangee- en ontvang tegnieke. Tydens die afrigtingsessies maak die afrigters seker dat elke Wildehondjie al die vereiste oefeninge onder die knie kry. Mini-wedstyde word aan die einde van die onderskeie sessies gespeel. Vir die afrigters is dit 'n voorreg en vreugde om met al die jong, belowende talent te werk. Die Erries is besonder trots op die volgende leerders wat gekies is vir die SANGWA ruiters Mpumalangaspan. Hierdie ruiters gaan deelneem aan die nasionale kampioenskap vanaf 1 tot 5 Oktober 2022 te Afridome Parys. Die leerders het aan verskeie kwalifiserende rondtes deelgeneem en is daarvolgens gekies as deel van die span. Die leerders verteenwoordig die Erries vanaf vlakke een tot vier. Ruiterkuns vat baie opoffering vanaf hierdie leerders en die Erries werk besonder hard om uitsonderlike uitslae te bereik. Die Errie-waardes word sowaar deur hierdie leerders uitgeleef. Johanna Leshabane, who launched Bophelo Recycling in 2007 after being retrenched. 1/1 Share GK CRONJE 8 December 2020 “I feel so blessed and very honoured,” said Bophelo owner, Johanna Leshabane, who attributed her success to PETCO, Safripol, her staff, and the community members, schools and companies which allowed Bophelo to collect their waste. When Johanna Leshabane launched Bophelo Recycling in 2007 after being retrenched, little did she know that her dream of fighting unemployment in her community would evolve into an award-winning business. Today, with 11 full-time staff and 20 part-time waste pickers, the waste buy-back centre collects 36 tonnes of recyclable PET plastic from informal settlements, households and schools in the Ermelo area. This equates to a 79% increase in total collection volumes since inception. Polymer producer Safripol and the national industry body for PET recycling (PETCO) have together provided Leshabane with supporting recycling infrastructure worth R500,000. The joint contribution included, among other things, a shipping container, electricity supply, trailer, roofing structure, trolleys, signage, fencing and branding, as well as training and mentoring support. The support has helped stimulate job creation, economic growth and development in the area, and, as a result, Bophelo has recently received national acclaim. The acclaim, in the form of the Responsible Care Initiative Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, came from the Chemical and Allied Industries Association (CAIA). It recognises the impact the project has made on improving the lives and livelihoods of Ermelo community members while making a positive difference to the environment. “I feel so blessed and very honoured,” said Bophelo owner, Johanna Leshabane, who attributed her success to PETCO, Safripol, her staff, and the community members, schools and companies which allowed Bophelo to collect their waste. “I couldn’t have done it without all these people,” she said. Despite the business being negatively affected by COVID-19, Leshabane said she planned to grow Bophelo even more in 2021. “I’d like to branch out into another town so that we can create jobs in other rural settlements and teach more people how they can start their own recycling business,” she said. Avashnee Chetty, Safripol sustainability manager, said the project demonstrated that “real change is possible in the lives of the most vulnerable when it is driven at grassroots level, and when community members are engaged as both partners and leaders. “This project is embedded in the local community, and it is only through joint partnerships of this kind that real impact and sustainable social change can be achieved. Safripol is extremely proud to be associated with this project,” Chetty said. PETCO collections and training project manager Belinda Booker said the training and mentorship of waste pickers was “critical to improving their working conditions and that of their surrounding communities, while simultaneously keeping our environment clean. “The PET recycling sector has an important role to play in contributing to the transformation of the South African economy. Haar suster, by wie sy aansterk, moes die wonde skoon maak, maar het opgemerk dat die wonde oornag slegter geraak het. Cecilia Earle, ‘n jarelange inwoner van Ermelo, was op Donderdag, 8 Oktober 2020 betrokke in ‘n tref en trap ongeluk met ‘n swaar motorvoertuig. Cecilia is dadelik na die provinsiale hospitaal geneem vir behandeling. Sy is op Vrydag, 16 Oktober, ontslaan uit die hospitaal ,waar mens kon sien daar is vordering in haar wonde se genesing. Ongelukkig is sy egter op Saterdag, 17 Oktober, deur Igagu mediese personnel na die privaat hospitaal toe gehaas. Haar suster, by wie sy aansterk, moes die wonde skoon maak, maar het opgemerk dat die wonde oornag slegter geraak het. Toe sy by die hospitaal aankom, het sy flinke diens van die mediese personeel ontvang, en is in die hospitaal opgeneem. Tydens ‘n besoek aan Cecilia op Maandag, 19 Oktober, het sy gesê sy voel goed, en dat die personeel mooi na haar omsien, net soos sy in die Tribune uitgawe van 13 Oktober gesê het van die personeel by die provinsiale hospitaal. Cecilia het haar man gedurende grendeltyd aan die dood afgestaan, waarna sy na haar seun en dogter moes omsien. Die gesin beskik nie oor ‘n mediese fonds om te help met al die mediese onkostes nie. Die Tribune het dit goed gedink om ‘n trust fonds te stig vir die mediese onkostes. Die gemeenskap word versoek om hul harte oop te maak, en by te dra waar hulle kan. I wish to greet the Principal, Ms. L Geoghegan, of which I speak through her. Special greetings also to the SGB, educators, learners, all NPSS staff, parents and guardians. It is with sadness I have to leave the school, as I am grabbing a life changing opportunity. It has not been an easy decision to make, but through love, support and the best advice, I had to make a decision. Since I started in October 2016, I have had the opportunity to grow professionally, and learnt a lot for personal development. I thank the entire NPSS family for such love and warm hands. I believe we had great encounters with each other, and we have managed to drive the vehicle forward. Thank you to the office of the Principal for such great leadership and endless opportunities. As it is Women's Month, we continue to make a clarion call that we want more women in leadership or top positions. Supporting documents that are attached must be certified by a Commissioner of Oath. The agency is currently reviewing its system, and thereafter the other grants will also be added to the portal. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) launched a pilot programme, entailing a self-service portal that can be used on both computers and mobile devices. According to SASSA, the turnaround time is 10 days, provided the candidate supplies all the stipulated documents linked to the application such as identity documents of applicant and spouse’s as well as banking details, among others. At this time, the project will cover Child Support, Older Persons and Foster Child grants. SASSA stated that this pilot will provide much-needed relief to grant applicants, as it will save them the inconvenience of standing in queues at SASSA offices. According to the agency, the added advantage is that the convenience of online applications eliminates the risk of being infected with the COVID-19 virus. The agency may require documents supporting a change of circumstances such as payment method, banking details and address. The portal also provides updates on the status of the application. To access this service, applicants need to have an e-mail address to sign up, and to be able to log in for further services. Feedback will be sent via e-mail or through an SMS for those who do not have e-mail addresses. A receipt will be generated when the application is completed.
