DWS besoek Rietspruit Crushers 1/2 Share SM HATTINGH 29 March 2022 Beide partye se regspanne is tans besig om te onderhandel. Na afloop van die Tribune se uitgawe van 22 Maart 2022, rakende die dispuut tussen Rietspruit Crushers en Oubaas de Jager Familie Trust, het dit gelyk of daar lig in die tonnel is. Die dispuut handel oor Rietspruit Crushers, wat vanaf 2017 geen vergoeding betaal het aan die Oubaas de Jager Familie Trust vir die area van die plaas wat hul tans gebruik nie, en dat daar ook tans geen huur ooreenkoms in plek is nie. Tydens ondersoeke is daar ondervind dat Rietspruit wel ‘n wettige myn lisensie het wat in 2025 verval, maar die groot vraag is... Sal die verhuurder weer die area aan die huurder verhuur, omdat Rietspruit Crushers reeds onder sakeredding geplaas is? In Junie 2021 het die huurooreenkoms reeds verval tussen die partye, waar daar nog nooit weer ‘n nuwe huur ooreenkoms in plek gesit is nie. Na ondersoeke is daar aan die Tribune gesê dat die Departement van Water en Sanitasie op Donderdag, 24 Maart 2022, hul verskyning in Ermelo gemaak het. Die lede van die Departement het ‘n besoek gaan aflê by Rietspruit Crushers, waar hul die water lisensie aangevra het. Tydens die besoek kon daar egter geen water lisensie gewys word aan die Departement nie, wat gelei het dat Rietspruit Crushers dadelik beveel is om alle myn aktiwiteite te staak. Nou lê die vraag weer, indien Rietspruit Crushers hul hekke sou moet sluit, hoe groot sal die ekonomiese impak in Ermelo en omliggende omgewing wees? Daar word tans die Merino Mall gebou, asook die infame “ring road” wat gebou gaan word... Waar gaan die verskeie instansies hul materiaal kan kry? Die arbitrasie saak wat tans tussen die partye is, is nou oorgeskakel na mediasie. Met die plasing in die vorige uitgawe van die Tribune, het verskeie mense kontak gemaak waar hulle kommer uitgespreek het rondom die situasie dat Rietspruit Crushers dalk sal moet toemaak. Verskeie maatskappye het ook laat hoor dat hul in die verlede ook skade gely het oor kontrakte wat in plek was, maar wat nie na gekom is soos ooreengekom was nie. Beide partye se regspanne is besig om te onderhandel, en te kyk of daar nie so spoedig as moontlik tot ‘n beslissing kan kom met die huurooreenkoms, asook al die uitstaande dokumentasie wat Rietspruit Crushers tans nie in hul besit het nie. Sou alles in plek val, sal Rietspruit Crushers steeds materiale kan produseer. Daar was ‘n koop ooreenkoms, asook ‘n huur ooreenkoms, wat stipuleer dat die Oubaas de Jager Familie Trust vergoed was, welke dan nie meer verder vergoed is vanaf 2017 nie, en dat daarna gewys word as verlies van inkomste. Die Oubaas de Jager Familie Trust oorweeg dit om moontlik die hele plaas te verkoop, omrede dit deel was van die koop ooreenkoms van 2013 vanaf die vorige eienaar, waarvan die geregistreerde huur ooreenkoms by die akte kantoor geregistreer was. Thabang Fortune Nhlapho, who is professionally known as Jaded Gluck, was born in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, the son of Gcebile Nhlapho (his late mother) and was raised by his grandmother Nomvula Soko. Jaded Gluck has six siblings, Thembelihle (his sister), Mashaba (his sister), Nomcebo (his sister), Calvin (his brother) and Lucky (his brother). He attended Cebisa Secondary School, where he was an athlete and partook in various sports. 2021 is set to be a particularly special year for Jaded Gluck. In the 4 years since he decided to devote himself to his music, the South African artist has managed to consistently ship out hit after hit along with, while staying in tune with a cult-like fanbase that has driven the rapid growth of both his music and his credibility. According to bystanders, the driver of the red Toyota Quantum minibus taxi was traveling in Church Street at high speed, wholly disregarding the traffic light. Another motorist, driving a Kia station wagon, was busy turning at the traffic light, and was hit by the taxi. According to eye witnesses, the taxi was launched into the air as it hit the Kia, and came to a halt on its side. At this time, there are no reports of serious injury, although several individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment. Emergency medical services, the fire department and towing services were on scene in a flash, with ACSU ensuring orderly conduct from onlookers. The recent rainfall has highlighted the alarming amount op potholes and sinkholes that plague Ermelo’s roads, as well as the roads in Wesselton and surrounding areas. The apathetic act by Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) to fill the potholes with gravel and sand has come back to haunt the entity, as hundreds of potholes have been washed open, and in many cases, worsened by erosion and constant traffic across the soggy tar surface surround these potholes. Large sinkholes have also appeared where the thin layers of superficial tar have been washed away and trampled by traffic, eroding to such an extent that motorists often have to grit their teeth while unwittingly slamming into these deceptively deep, water filled sinkholes, causing extensive damage to their vehicles, tyres and wheel alignment. TLU SA to raise awareness of farm attacks 1/0 Share GK CRONJE 4 August 2020 “This year we already faced 35 murders in 180 farm attacks. These are not statistics. They are people. South Africans often do not realize the scale of the impact of attacks on agriculture as a whole and ultimately, on food production.” Therefore, on 14 August 2020, TLU SA will virtually walk around South Africa in 24 hours in protest against the 5 530 farm attacks since 1990. TLU SA is anxious about the increase in farm attacks, which this weekend lead to five murders. It earnestly urges farmers, their families and workers to be alert at all times. “The nine attacks of this weekend confirmed our observation that the marked decrease in violent crimes on farms during the first week of the lockdown, was shortlived. The first six months of 2020 mirror the same period in 2019,” says Mr. Henry Geldenhuys, the chairman of TLU SA’s Safety Committee, and deputy president of TLU SA. Apart from the increase in crime, the lockdown also leads to further complications when police stations have to close temporarily after exposure to COVID-19. The public often does not have any alternative numbers for SAPS members at these stations, and they are left to their own devices during attacks. “It’s been some time since TLU SA realized they could not depend on the government to safeguard them,” says Mr. Geldenhuys. “People who live on farms increasingly have to make use of their own abilities and capacity to ensure their safety. The solution lies in personal alertness and readiness.” From the feedback after failed attacks, it is clear that victims who were highly alert and ready, with a weapon on hand, and could effectively prevent an attack. The reaction of a well-organized Farm Watch, made up of members who knows the environment and residents, is invaluable when the reaction time and effective action of the police are limited. Safety starts with the individual farmer, then the family and workers and then branches out to neighbours, Farm Watch and the police. It is crucial to be prepared by keeping a weapon for self-defense within reach, to have your contingency plan in place, and ensuring the ability to communicate from the farm, is established. TLU SA urgently requests farmers to join local safety structures and always to be alert. The farmers of South Africa are of vital importance. They have the particular knowledge and expertise to farm in a marginal agriculture country to produce food for our tables. They are viewed as some of the best farmers in the world. A total of 271 males were arrested during an operation focusing on illegal mining in Ermelo on Thursday, 13 October 2022. The illegal mine is located approximately 10KM out of Ermelo on the N11, and the operation was led by the SAPS Gert Sibande District Office. They were assisted by members from the SAPS National Intervention Unit, SAPS Ermelo, Ermelo K9, the SAPS Air Wing, Department of Home Affairs, Kunene Security, Spartan Training, AfriForum Buurtwag and 303 Security. Amongst the suspects arrested were 30 Zimbabwian citizens, 92 citizens from Mozambique and 11 from Swaziland. 138 are South African citizens. Investigation revealed that the citizens from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland did not have proper documentation to be in the country, and the are all facing charges of being in South Africa illegally. The SAPS confiscated one front-end loader, three trucks and six bakkies loaded with coal, wheelbarrows, pick axes and forks, all of which had been used in the illegal mining of coal. During the arrest, SAPS Air Wing got their eyes on another mine, where they dispatched SAPS members. Upon arrival at the scene, there were an estimated 50 miners, as well as women selling food and colddrinks from a makeshift stall. All of these miners were also arrested. At this location, there is a mine shaft’s opening is at the end of a 150 meter decline. On Friday, 14 October 2022, outside the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court, family members and working colleagues gathered outside the court waiting for the court case. SAPS visibility was high, and the area cordoned off by SAPS vehciles. At a later stage, the protestors were in front of the SAPS station, were they demanded that the arrested suspects be released to go back to work. Rubber bullets and tear gas was later used to disperse the rowdy crowd, and restore order. The suspects made their appearance before court on Monday, 17 October 2022, were they remained in custody. The suspects that appeared before the court on Monday, are facing all the following charge: the Accused, being an illegal foreigner, is guilty of the offence of contravention of section 49(1)(a), read with sections 9(1) and 9(3)(b) of the immigration Act, Act 13 of 2022 as amended by Act 13 of 2011. The Accused did wrongfully enter the Republic in contravention of the Immigration Act, 2022, by entering the Republic at a place other than a port or entry, or entering the Republic whilst he/she was not in possession of a valid passport or in that the accused, being a foreigner who is not the holder of a permanent residence permit, did enter the Republic while his/her passport was valid for less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended stay, and that he/she was not issued with a valid temporary residence permit; and or in that the entry into the Republic by the said accused was not recorded by an immigration officer, and or remain in the Republic without being iin possession of any form or document allowing him/her to remain in the Republic. The remaining suspects made their appearance in court on 18 October, and again on 21 October, respectively. If you have ever scrolled through your Facebook feed, or received a chain message on WhatsApp, stating that you can purchase 1000 units of prepaid electricity for a dubiously low price, be aware that this is a scam. Many of these operations have been noted in Mpumalanga, and are perpetrated by individuals who take advantage of vulnerable and gullible residents, including the elderly. A slew of complaints have been lodged with Eskom, regarding fraudsters duping individuals and businesses into paying for this “cheap electricity” through electronic funds transfers such as eWallet and money market. Thereafter, the scammers disappear, and leave the customers destitute and out of pocket. When the token is sent to the buyer via WhatsApp, the code to be read into the meter is non-working, and its validity has been compromised, as it has already been used in a registered meter. Complaints have surfaced of duped customers who have received exact copies of the same token, only with the date and location fraudulently altered. “Eskom is working with several law enforcement agencies to trace and prosecute these unscrupulous individuals. We want to urge the members of public not to fall prey to these crooks, but to report these acts of fraud to the police without delay. We urge anyone who comes across this criminality to report these acts of fraud to the police.” said Eskom’s General Manager for Security, Advocate Karen Pillay. Eskom pleads with the public not to fall prey to these scams. Cooperation with the law enforcement agencies has already resulted in some arrests, and prosecutions are ongoing in the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga, Eskom said. All major medical aids are accepted. Medirite will be administering flu vaccines for just R109.99 each, a price unchanged from last year, when it offered the cheapest flu vaccine in South Africa among the major pharmacy chains. From the second week of March, the pharmacy chain, conveniently located inside Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets, will be among the first to offer flu vaccines for the upcoming winter season. Lisa Giltrow, senior pharmacist at Medirite, says the flu vaccine is safe, recommended for all age groups and is the most effective way to prevent infection this season. “While flu can impact all age groups, some groups and individuals are more at risk than others. In particular, the elderly, pregnant women, children, those with chronic conditions, and health care workers are at increased risk of contracting or being severalty affected by flu,” explains Giltrow.
