Two suspects, aged 28 and 39, were arrested by members of Fidelity Security during the night of Thursday, 21 January 2021, at Kendal near Phola. The pair were arrested after Transnet control room detected a fuel pressure drop on the pipeline. Authorities responded to the identified spot and apprehended one suspect, who attempted to run away. He had fresh burn marks all over his body. A big fire was raging in the maize field nearby, and upon inspection they realised that the flames came from the burning Transnet pipeline. The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team and local police were summoned to the scene for further investigation. Following an intensive search, a second suspect who was also badly burnt, was apprehended after he was found hiding under a bridge. Emergency services were summoned, and the two suspects were transported to the hospital under police guard. All the exhibits, which included a white Mazda bakkie, generator and pieces of charred clothes were confiscated for further investigation. Another incident recently took place over the weekend. These individuals become trigger happy and discharge firearms totally disregarding the law and lives of other funeral attendees or children. General Zuma therefore condemns such incidences in the strongest terms and indicated that such dangerous actions must not be supported. “Bereaved families must assist police and not allow criminals to discharge firearms during funerals of their loved ones, irrespective of how the deceased behaved while still alive. The condemnation by General Zuma comes after four men and a woman were arrested on Saturday, 19 September 2020, by the Tactical Response Team members. The suspects are alleged to have attended a funeral at Masoyi Trust. Their arrest came after police received damning reports about certain individuals who were busy firing shots at a funeral claiming they were bidding farewell to their friend. In that regard, police followed this information and cornered the suspects at Hazyview, whereupon searching them, police found two unlicensed firearms loaded with ammunition. Yesterday, 21 September 2020, the villains made their first appearance at the White River Magistrate’s Court, where they were all remanded in custody until Friday, 25 September 2020. Sfiso Mkhabela 31 years old, Sipho Khoza 36, Sendra Ngwenya 33, Sizwe Johannes Mkhabela 26 and Eulanda Mlimi 28, were all not asked to plea hence they were sent packing back to custody. The upheaval from the council and community due to the illegal appointment of the Msukaligwa Local Municipality acting troika has ruffled a myriad of feathers. Under cloak and dagger, however, it had been announced that the municipal council fully elected the troika. Ironically, the same acting members that have received stiff opposition has now been elected by unanimous vote, according to a source. It has been announced that the acting trio is now fully at the helm. Cllr Xaba has been elected as speaker, Cllr MP Nkosi has been elected as executive mayor, and Cllr PC Sibeko has been elected as chief whip. According to the municipality, 34 out of the 38 councillors voted in favor of the appointments. However, other members of the community vented their frustration, and allegations of insufficient educational qualifications have also once again surfaced. The announcement of the troika comes at a most inauspicious time, as the result of the High Court case is expected to be received this week, after it was postponed due to outstanding documentation. Speaking to Mandla Zwane, municipal spokesman, he confirmed that the decisions taken by the current troika, such as the budget presentation and other expenditure decisions, will remain in place until such a time that the court case is settled. Upon enquiry if the mayoral chain featured on the photo is the one that had been alleged as being missing in action, the municipality stated that the chain was used for photography and inauguration purposes, and that it is not the chain of Msukaligwa Local Municipality. Die gedigte is maklik verstaanbaar, en elke gedig vertel ‘n storie. " Kleintjie Smalberger (Strydom) is ‘n hoogs talentvolle dame, wat asems laat snak met haar pragtige woorde wat sy pen. “Ek skryf tans hoofsaaklik poësie... Dit lê my baie na aan die hart. Dit is baie goeie terapie, en is vir my ontspannend. My grootste aansporing was maar omdat ek al soveel hartseer en ongelukkige tye beleef en ervaar het. My groot liefde vir die Groot-Karoo, asook groot heimwee na my grootword dorp deel ook in my gedigte. Alles wat mooi en kosbaar is vir my, moet ek egter neerpen. Fotografie, musiek en die mooie natuur vorm alles deel van my skryfwerk,” het Kleintjie aan die Tribune gesê. “Dinge wat ons land raak, asook ons boere in erge droogte tye het my vinnig laat voel ek moet daaroor skryf. Die kwessie van verdwaalde en rondloper vee in Ermelo woongebiede, omliggende areas en die buitewyke is al jare aan die gang, sonder enige optrede van die Msukaligwa Plaaslike Munisipaliteit (MLM) en die relevante departemente. In hierdie geval word verordeninge heeltemal geïgnoreer, en die wette word nie deur die owerhede afgedwing nie, wat 'n bose kringloop van frustrasie, saakbeskadiging en gevaar vir motoriste veroorsaak. Verskeie inwoners het gerapporteer dat hul honde onbeheerbaar opgewerk word deur die rondloper vee wat ronddwaal in die woongebied, veral in die De Bruin Park omgewing. Klagtes vanaf inwoners beweer dat dié rondlopers so gewoond geraak het aan verkeer en gevloek van frustreerde motoriste en inwoners, dan die diere hul geensins steur aan die kwaad wat hul stook nie. Inwoners het ook klagtes ingedien van die rondlopers wat hul kom tuismaak in erwe, en ook vullissakke oopskeur op soek na peuselhappies. Verskeie motoriste het nouliks vermy om met hierdie diere te bots, wat ‘n veer voel vir aankomende verkeer. Motoriste wat moet uitswaai, skielik remme aanslaan, en aan die teenoorgestelde kant van die pad ry om hierdie diere te vermy, is teen die tyd al keelvol vir MLM, wat Gods water oor Gods akker laat loop. Hierdie kwessie is egter nie net tot diewoongebiede beperk nie, aangesien inwoners verskeie klagtes ingedien het oor beeste wat in die begraafplase wei, en kosbare herinneringe vertrap, blomme opvreet en vase beskadig, en ander gedenkwaardighede verniel. Haar suster, by wie sy aansterk, moes die wonde skoon maak, maar het opgemerk dat die wonde oornag slegter geraak het. Cecilia Earle, ‘n jarelange inwoner van Ermelo, was op Donderdag, 8 Oktober 2020 betrokke in ‘n tref en trap ongeluk met ‘n swaar motorvoertuig. Cecilia is dadelik na die provinsiale hospitaal geneem vir behandeling. Sy is op Vrydag, 16 Oktober, ontslaan uit die hospitaal ,waar mens kon sien daar is vordering in haar wonde se genesing. Ongelukkig is sy egter op Saterdag, 17 Oktober, deur Igagu mediese personnel na die privaat hospitaal toe gehaas. Haar suster, by wie sy aansterk, moes die wonde skoon maak, maar het opgemerk dat die wonde oornag slegter geraak het. Toe sy by die hospitaal aankom, het sy flinke diens van die mediese personeel ontvang, en is in die hospitaal opgeneem. Tydens ‘n besoek aan Cecilia op Maandag, 19 Oktober, het sy gesê sy voel goed, en dat die personeel mooi na haar omsien, net soos sy in die Tribune uitgawe van 13 Oktober gesê het van die personeel by die provinsiale hospitaal. Cecilia het haar man gedurende grendeltyd aan die dood afgestaan, waarna sy na haar seun en dogter moes omsien. Die gesin beskik nie oor ‘n mediese fonds om te help met al die mediese onkostes nie. Amidst backlash from a previous statement that apartheid was at fault for the dismal service delivery, electrical outages and other issues faced by Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, the GMM executive mayor, Ms Ngxonono, stated during a virtual council meeting that approximately 60% of the council’s electricity losses is due to theft. Residents have taken it upon themselves to drag GMM to court due to their utter lack of governance in their jurisdiction, with the brunt of the complaints stemming from the lack of service delivery and the supply of electricity. Protests, unrest and dissatisfaction is part of the daily lives of residents under the broken wing of GMM governance.
