Alcohol sale now allowed under National Alert Level 3

In terms of the regulations, the sale of liquor at any licensed premises or through e-commerce delivery is permitted from Monday to Thursday, between 09:00 and 17:00, the transportation and distribution of liquor to licensed premises is permitted, the consumption of liquor at the place of sale is prohibited, the sale of liquor is prohibited on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays, and no special or events liquor licenses may be approved for the duration of the national state of disaster.

Uncertainly looms as Motshekga consistently fumbles

The unions said this is a time to show solidarity with the plight of other provinces, and sympathy with the plight of thousands of teachers and children across the country. The unions have called on Motshekga to meet teacher unions and governing body associations on 11 June for "genuine assessment and engagement" about the readiness of the system.

2 500 SASSA social relief payouts processed

The Mpumalanga SASSA office has, to date, succeeded to effect payment of the special Social Relief Distress Fund of R350 for 2 500 unemployed citizens in the province. At this time, SASSA is in the processing phase of received applications, and qualifying applicants will be notified in due course. Qualifying residents who wish to apply, are urged to visit the SASSA offices for the special SRD COVID-19 grant.

Keep safe during municipal load shedding

If the alarm is triggered because of a power surge, or because of load shedding, please contact your security company as soon as possible to cancel any false alarms. This helps ensure that armed response officers are allocated to legitimate emergencies.

The ladies created a drum, where they painted the drum a colour of their choice, learned to do stencil work, and how a water transfer works. Laughs and fun were had by all.

Revised school calender extends academic year

4 August 2020

In terms of the new version of the calendar, the teaching, learning and assessment for the 2020 academic year must be concluded by 15 December 2020 for Grades R to 11. Grade 12 examinations will be completed by this time, and the grading of papers will be wrapped up by January, and results released by 23 February 2021.

TLU demands clarity on hunting regulations

“We urge the department and government to explain why these regulations were revised,” says Mr. Meintjes. “Farmers are already fed up with the impact of the lockdown while government depends on them to continue with food production. The day will come when farmers cannot supply the demand anymore.”

TLU SA to raise awareness of farm attacks

“This year we already faced 35 murders in 180 farm attacks. These are not statistics. They are people. South Africans often do not realize the scale of the impact of attacks on agriculture as a whole and ultimately, on food production.” Therefore, on 14 August 2020, TLU SA will virtually walk around South Africa in 24 hours in protest against the 5 530 farm attacks since 1990.
