On Thursday, 19 August 2021, Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) suffered major damages as arsonists struck in Horster Road. It had been alleged that nearby residents set the field on fire, which rapidly spread and caused extensive damage to an electrical kiosk supplying electricity to the area. The kiosk was melted beyond repair, snapping and cracking as the insulation on the high voltage cables melted. Although the fire department was notified, the service did not arrive in time to save the innards of the kiosk.
