On Thursday, 3 June, at approximately 18:30, a pedestrian has lost his life after allegedly jumping in front of oncoming traffic on the Amersfoort road, opposite Winkelhaak. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the pedestrian was pronounced DOA. According to bystanders, the deceased has been know to repeatedly ignore oncoming traffic, and has had several narrow brushes with motorists who were caught off guard by his strange behavior. An SAPS investigation is underway. Motorists are urged to be vigilant when driving at night, and to try and anticipate any obstacles that may present itself. Traffic flow was disrupted for an extended period of time as the scene was assessed and investigated.
