Bethal jeweller, Francois Pretorius, who faces charges of the double murder of Dr Hannes and Ms Ibel Beukes, appeared before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court for formal bail application. Pretorius is accused of murdering the Beukes couple on 18 March 2020, and leaving their bodies in the trunk of a vehicle near Bethal Dam. He fled the scene, but was arrested on a farm outside Belfast. Pretorius was denied bail, and will appear in court Thursday, 2 July. He remains in custody, and has been since his arrest.
